Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Pacific Palisades’ picturesque Pacific Ocean coastline is dotted with upscale restaurants that combine breathtaking views with exceptional service and cuisine. Gladstones has been a Palisades mainstay since the 1980s. This classic beachfront dining hotspot relaunched in 2018 with a highly-praised new menu that assured its continued place at the forefront of the neighborhood’s fine dining scene. Dine on delectable seafood platters or Gladstones’ signature lobster thermidor while taking in sweeping ocean views from its floor-to-ceiling windows. Mastro’s Ocean Club is another sublime fine dining choice, offering mouthwatering steaks, outstanding fresh seafood, and an award-winning wine list. Away from the oceanfront, Palisades Village has a delightful selection of boutique shops and restaurants. Highlights include Erewhon Market, a market-leading health foods store which opened its Palisades Village location in 2019. Erewhon Market’s shelves are stocked with organic produce, organic and biodynamic alcoholic beverages, and a wide choice of keto, paleo, vegan, and gluten-free grocery items. The store also sells delicious freshly-prepared and ready-to-eat foodstuffs. Palisades Village is comprised of more than 40 carefully-chosen businesses with a great selection of stylish fashion boutiques.

Things to Do

Residents of Pacific Palisades enjoy access to an abundance of outdoor recreation, from the sands of Will Rogers State Beach to trails rising into the Santa Monica Mountains. The beach runs for one and three-quarter miles along Pacific Palisades’ ocean coastline and is typically much less crowded than the beaches in neighboring Malibu and Santa Monica. Popular activities here include swimming, sunbathing, surfing, sailing, and windsurfing. There are also volleyball courts, picnic tables, and play and exercise equipment. For hikes into the surrounding mountains, head to Temescal Gateway Park. This 141-acre park has canyons lined with oaks and sycamores, majestic ridgetop ocean views, and trails leading to other parks and open space areas. From here it’s possible to hike to the cliffs and canyons of Topanga State Park, the grand ranch and equestrian center at Will Rogers State Historic Park, and the pristine 20,000-acre expanse of Big Wild. Other mountainside landmarks include the Getty Villa, which hosts a world-class collection of Ancient Greek, Roman, and Etruscan artworks. The Getty Villa has an indoor auditorium and outdoor auditorium that stage plays and musical performances. The Villa is surrounded by four gardens comprised of Mediterranean plants that were cultivated by the Romans. Located a few blocks from the beachfront, Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine offers relaxation at a hilltop temple and a lakeside meditation garden featuring shrines and waterfalls.
