Welcome to Agoura
Agoura is a picturesque unincorporated Los Angeles County community nestled between the cities of Westlake Village and Calabasas in the verdant Conejo Valley. The community has an enclave known as Old Agoura. and its large ranches and equestrian properties give it a rustic vibe distinct from the other areas of Agoura Hills. The traditional Californian ranches that dot the landscape include the Paramount Ranch, where many classic Westerns were filmed. A large number of Agoura’s newer properties maintain this frontier vibe with barns, stables, and corrals. You’ll also find handsome Spanish-style haciendas, elegant estates, and empty lots ready for construction on your own private Agoura retreat.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Agoura’s Old West charm is on full display at The Old Place, a classic saloon-style roadhouse in the Santa Monica Mountains. Housed within a 19th-century post office and general store, The Old Place was transformed into an authentically-rustic restaurant by late actor Tom Runyon in 1970 and once counted Steve McQueen, Sam Peckinpah, and Bob Dylan among its regulars. Enjoy hearty grilled steaks and American comfort classics with drinks from the bar or head next door to the Cornell Winery & Tasting Room to sample a range of exceptional local vintages. Located in the heart of Old Agoura, Agoura’s Famous Deli & Restaurant lives up to its name with a great selection of mouthwatering sandwiches, freshly-baked Italian bread, homemade pasta and cannelloni, and specialty grocery items. Italia Deli & Bakery is another fine choice for gourmet sandwiches, bread and other baked goods, and imported foodstuffs. Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie is a pioneer of Los Angeles’ burgeoning craft beer scene. Since opening in 2009, Ladyface has won numerous awards for its outstanding Belgian, French, and American-style ales. Ladyface also serves delicious European-inspired shared plates and artisanal burgers. This community hub hosts frequent events, including live music and comedy nights.
Things to Do
It may surprise you to learn that this relaxed equestrian community is home to a first-rate music venue, but The Canyon Club has a packed calendar of performances from diverse musical acts. Located in the heart of Old Agoura, this stylish venue hosts everything from rock and jazz to hip-hop and country music. Agoura also offers an abundance of outdoor recreation space. Spanning 8,000 acres, Malibu Creek State Park boasts the Santa Monica Mountains’ most spectacular scenery. The park was once owned by 20th Century Fox Studios and its dramatic landscape doubled for Vietnam in the hit TV series M*A*S*H. Inside the park, discover volcanic rock gorges, rolling tallgrass plains, oak and sycamore woodlands, chaparral-covered slopes, colorful wildflowers, and rock pools. Popular activities at Malibu Creek include bird watching, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and mountain climbing. The Paramount Ranch is another nearby location steeped in film history. Here, you’ll find multi-use trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders, along with a replica Old West town built as a film set in the 1950s. Trails also run through the Peter Strauss Ranch, named after the film and television actor who sold it to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservatory in the 1980s. The Peter Strauss Ranch has an Italian terrazzo-tiled concert area, which has hosted performances from country music stars such as Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Performances still take place on the terrazzo, which also hosts a regular concert series on Sunday evenings during the summer months.
